What are the basics of kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a holistic practice that aims to balance a person's physical, emotional, energetic and mental well-being, here, through the horse, for you and for the horse. It is based on the idea that the body has an innate ability to regulate and heal itself, and that it keeps track of imbalances that can disrupt this balance.

Here are the essential basics of kinesiology:

1. Muscle testing: a key tool

Muscle testing is the main tool of kinesiology. It involves applying gentle pressure to a specific muscle to assess its response.

A strong or weak muscle response indicates imbalances in the energy or nervous system. This helps identify blockages or stresses in the body.

2. The mind-body connection

Kinesiology is based on the principle that the body and mind are deeply interconnected.

Emotions, stress or trauma can manifest physically as pain, tension or illness.

3. Energy balance

Inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, kinesiology focuses on the energy balance of the meridians, the channels through which vital energy (called "chi" or "qi") circulates.

An imbalance in these energy flows can lead to physical or psychological disorders.

4. Holistic approach

Kinesiology considers the human being in its entirety: physical, mental, emotional and energetic.

Every aspect of the person is taken into account to identify the root causes of imbalances.

5. Listening to the body

The body is seen as a communication system. It gives signals (pain, blockages, tensions) to indicate what is wrong.

The kinesiologist helps to decode these signals to restore harmony.

6. Balancing techniques

Kinesiology uses various techniques to restore balance, such as:

  • Stimulation or massage of reflex points or meridians.

  • Relaxation or breathing exercises.

  • Dietary or postural adjustments.

  • Working on buried emotions.

7. Self-responsibility

The kinesiologist supports the person in their own journey. The goal is to give them the tools to become an actor in their well-being.

Kinesiology is a non-intrusive practice that complements traditional medical care. It does not replace conventional medicine, but can be a valuable aid in better managing stress, emotions and physical pain.
